Awami National PartyR17;s (ANP) president for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Aimal Wali Khan, on Sunday was unanimously elected as the partyR17;s central president.
The partyR17;s general council meeting, under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner Iftikhar Hussain, was held in ANP’s Bacha Khan Centre in Peshawar.
According to sources, no other candidate submitted papers for the president’s position. Aimal’s name was suggested by ANP leader Haider Khan Hoti. It should be noted that Aimal’s father, Asfandyar Wali Khan, was the partyR17;s president. However, the senior politician has been away from politics for sometime and did not participate in the February 8 general elections.
