ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Wednesday said that those who are responsible for the prevailing poor conditions in Balochistan will not be pardoned.
Former chief ministers Abdul Malik Baloch and Sanaullah Zehri appeared in court during the hearing of a suo motu case related to the shortage of water in the province.
During his visit to Quetta, Saqib Nisar also pointed towards the poor condition of schools and hospitals in the province, and asked the Baloch leaders what they had done for water, education and health during their terms in office.
Abdul Malik Baloch stated that the government resolved many law and order related issues which were critical at that time.
He further said that they require Rs 62 billion to make new schools across the province whereas the total budget is a paltry Rs 42 billion.
Zehri, along with Baloch, said that the security situation improved in their tenures.
While discussing the health sector of the province, Chief Justice Nisar stated that during a visit to Quetta he had witnessed very poor conditions at government hospitals.
Chief Justice Nisar questioned whether the people of Balochistan are truly politically empowered or not and asked what the court can do to improve this situation.
Baloch replied that Balochistan had never had neutral elections before and those who had not worked properly for the people ought to be punished.
At the end of hearing, the court also summoned the Inspector Generals of the Frontier Corps’ south and north divisions.
