ISLAMABAD: In a significant move to address escalating tensions, army troops have assumed control of security for key landmarks in the federal capital’s Red Zone following the government’s decision to deploy military personnel. The situation has led to widespread disruption, including internet outages across several cities in Punjab, such as Multan, Rajanpur, Gujrat, and Dera Ghazi Khan. Residents in these areas are facing challenges in accessing online services.
Major routes connecting Faisalabad to Islamabad and Rawalpindi have been sealed off, causing severe inconvenience for commuters. Containers have been strategically placed at various points on Motorways M-3 and M-4, completely blocking access to these highways. Additionally, the Faisalabad-Sheikhupura and Faisalabad-Lahore roads have been obstructed at multiple locations.
FIR Filed Over Police Casualties in Rawalpindi
Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Taxila Police Station in Rawalpindi concerning the death of a police constable and injuries to others near the Hakla Interchange. The FIR, lodged on behalf of the police, names Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Salar Khan Kakar, Shahid Khattak, and others as accused.
The report alleges that the attackers, equipped with tear gas guns, rubber bullets, and other weapons, violated Section 144 and engaged in violent assaults on law enforcement personnel using sticks and stones. It further claims the incident was a premeditated criminal conspiracy orchestrated by PTI leadership.
According to the FIR, Constable Mubashir Hassan was critically injured, abducted in a red van, and later dumped under the Hakla Bridge. He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Other injured personnel include Constables Adnan, Raiyas, and Naeem.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, with heightened security measures in place across the affected regions.
