Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif has said that some people are hell-bent on delaying the forthcoming general elections, scheduled for July 25.
Speaking to journalists outside an accountability court on Friday, the former premier said: “This is going to a big election.
When asked about his views on party’s stalwart Chaudhry Nisar and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent statement, Nawaz shied away from giving an answer.
He, however, added: “Ups and downs are part of life. A person should try to stay happy all the time. Moreover, seasoned politician Javed Hashmi also reached the accountability court to receive Nawaz.
“I am here to congratulate Mian sahab,” he said. “The PML-N had completed its five-year tenure even though there was daily speculation that the government would end soon.”
Hashmi further remarked that delay in elections would threaten democracy.
“People who believe in democracy and vote for respect have struggled alongside [Nawaz Sharif],” he added.
