NEW YORK: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and Member of National Assembly Muhammad Ayaz Soomro passed away in New York on Monday after a protracted illness.
The lawmaker, 59, breathed his last at a hospital in New York, where he was under treatment for a serious heart ailment for some days.
He had been undergoing treatment at Karachi’s National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases before he was moved to the United States for further treatment some 20 days ago.
Muhammad Ayaz Soomro was elected on the National Assembly seat in Larkana on a ticket of the PPP in 2013. Before being elevated to the NA in 2013, he remained Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs in the previous five-year stint of the PPP government in Sindh.
